Chilcano
The Chilcano is a great drink that I discovered near the end of my trips to Peru. One night we
asked the bartender at a restaurant what he suggested and he came up
with this. It is one of the best, most refreshing drinks I've
ever had! Its taste is distinct and like nothing else I've tried
in the states, but make sure you use the Quebranta type of Pisco to get
the best results! Macchu Pisco (currently available in only VA and MD) is a good Quebranta Pisco, if your liquor store carries it. Otherwise, check out PiscoMall.com.
Ingredients:
Pisco (Quebranta)
Sprite, 7UP or any lemon-lime soda*
Slice of lime
Preparation:
Fill glass with ice.
Then, fill glass about 1/3 with pisco and
top off with soda. Add a slice of lime to the edge
of the glass.
Serve in a Collins or Highball glass. Yields 1 glass.
*Alternately, ginger ale and lime juice can be used. If using ginger ale, add a teaspoon of lime juice and mix.
